
In our busy lives, it is very common that our beings circulate around a four letter word...work! As women, we go to work, and then come home to work some more; It is work such as the laundry needs to be done, meals need to be made, the house needs to be vacuumed, a child needs help with their homework and so on. And to add to our stress, we don't know how to do the new math of the child's homework.
In all this, we forget to take care of ourselves, We are so busy taking care of everyone else, that we miss opportunities to be kind to ourselves. Because of this, stress is more stressful, we find ourselves on edge, and everything seems more dialed up; we find ourselves exhausted and on the edge of tears over nothing.
"But I don't have time to take care of me!" is the rally cry. And yes, our lives are jam packed, but we need to find moments for ourselves. Because if we don't, our nerves can become fried, and in break-down mode, or we become depressed with life. Either way,we end up not being present in our lives, or others.
The thing is, we know the answer. The answer is taking care of ourselves. It could look like getting enough sleep, leaving the laundry unfolded and being okay with that, bringing a book to read while we wait for our kid at piano lessons, taking an art lesson so that you can find enjoyment and relaxation, and more.
You know what makes you feel good. You know what you like. it is introducing these things back into your life. It is taking a moment to be good to you. (Like reading this post- see? You can do it!)
Take this as a reminder that taking care of yourself is important....because your life is important....YOU are important. Now act accordingly.
