ART

This edition of Art & Soul Insider newsletter will focus on the continuation of the element of colour.

The colour wheel can be divided into two. It can be categorized as warm and cool colours. Warm colours are considered reds, oranges and yellows. While cool colours are seen as blues, greens and purples. (see below)

Now to change gears a bit, I will share about what the meanings of hue, shade, tint and tone. Hue is the pure colour of a colour (for example the yellow, orange, red, purple, green and blue above). Changing a hue/colour can happen by adding black, white and grey. When a colour darkens, by combining black to the colour (for example a red becomes the colour burghandy), it is called a shade. When a colour lightens, by combining white to the colour (for example a red becomes the colour pink), it is called a tint. And finally, when a colour lightens and lessens the intensity of its colour, by adding grey, it is call tone.

Colour = hue

Colour + black = shade

Colour + white = tint

Colour + grey = tone

SOUL

We’ve been through a tough year. Thousands upon thousands died, thousands upon thousands lost their jobs, thousands upon thousands had to pivot and learn to work from home. And on top of it all our children were displaced from school and were now home learning. And after all this change, now we face uncertainty of what are the new standards and ways to move forward. If you say you weren’t affected by COVID and its ramifications, you are lying to yourself. Mentally, emotionally and physically (the COVID 15) we were, and are, affected. We need to focus on our own self-care.

So I turned to my Self-Love Oracle, by Akal Pritam, and asked the cards to share with me how we, you and I, can focus on our self-care mentally, emotionally and physically. I drew three cards, one for each mental, emotional and physical self-care instructions. The first card drawn was for mental self-care: Ritual: Grounding crown chakra. The second card drawn was for emotional self-care: Ho’oponopono Healing. And finally, the last card drawn was for physical self-care: Soul Lesson: Trust root chakra.

For our Mental Self-care: Card 28 Ritual: Grounding

“My whole life is a practice of being here now”

The card description said: “Choose to do one or more of the activities listed below:

  • Take photos of beautiful places in nature
  • Sit under a tree and daydream
  • Lie on a carpet of green grass and listen
  • Watch the sunrise and sunset everyday for forty days
  • Write about things that warm your heart and make you smile
  • Take a bath in mineral salts, sprinkle with flower petals and surround the bath with crystals and candle light
  • Breathe more deeply and sing the song in your heart
  • Love your soul” and many more.

For our Emotional Self-care: Card 33 ho’oponopono healing

“Healing and one-hundred-per-cent forgiveness.”

The card description says: “you are being offered the loving healing of the ancient Hawaiian Ho’oponopono forgiveness practice.

I am sorry

I dissolve any disempowering subconscious thoughts. I now centre myself in my heart to calmly contemplate this situation with my inner wisdom, compassion and understanding. I see everything is an opportunity to learn and love more.

Please forgive me

I take a deep breath into my heart and feel my universality. I let go of all negative thinking and ego-based fears. I bless everything with gratitude and let go of the past.

I love you

I love myself with all my heart and I project my love forward to all. As I open my heart more, I find the courage to face my life, focus on my strengths and creative destiny.

Thank you

I thank myself for releasing all disharmonious energy. I wish no one harm and I understand that holding on to anger and resentment is poisonous. Without any regrets, I thank myself, others and this situation for teaching me.”

For our Physical Self-care: Card 1 Soul Lesson: trust root chakra

“Apply yourself creatively to all aspects of your life.”

The card description says: “By choosing to become your own best friend, you are in a better position to observe which emotions, habits and addictions take you away from, or towards, creative self-expression…. Trust that you have the support, freedom and potential to create a fulfilling path based on your true desires. Never attach yourself to any outcome; rather, be open to the infinite possibilities ahead of you… Take responsibility for your thoughts, words and actions. By consistently showing up and doing your best to meet life creatively and enthusiastically, you will see improvement and feel more inspired to apply yourself, and with more joy.”

(Please know that there is more descriptions for each card. If you would like the full description for each card, let me know and I’d be happy to provide them.)
