In the summer, this cat was coming around the house. I began feeding him as he looked scruffy. I was right in my assumption as he would gobble the food down. I tried to figure out where he lived, but I never figured that out.
He would come 2-3 times a day; he would eat and then move to the corner of our deck, and clean himself. When he first came, i would put the food out and wait from him, and peer at him through the window. The problem with this, was some other cats would come around and eat his food. But it then came to be, that he knew that the food came from the lady inside the house, and he would wait for me. Smart cat. Slowly, I was able to be outside with him while he ate, And then slowly, I was able to be close to him while he ate. And finally, after a fair bit of time, I was able to pet him while he ate.
Throughout this time, I began to name him Quattro, as he was the fourth cat I was feeding regularly. My intention was to catch him and hand him over to SCARS (Second Chance Animal Rescue Society). But I phoned them and found out that they were full, and not able to take cats in. So, my partner and I decided to make him as comfortable as possible. And so, the weather became colder and he (my partner) ordered a cat house that had a heated floor. I was able to get Quattro inside by leaving ,consistently, a trail of his favourite treats (Temptations). Not that I liked it, but Quattro was able to withstand -30 C (plus windchill) weather, because of the house.
Then came the fateful day when he came inside. It was December 19th, and it was snowing heavily and it was -25C. And in the video I describe why we brought him in and made him part of our family. and we are thankful.
