I've talked about Gesso before on #TuesdayToolsAndTechniques . Most people know that gesso can be used on canvas. Gesso provides a great base for paints; it is similar to the base coat one puts on their walls before they put the paint on. gesso prepares the surface for paint and provides a great base for your creative painterly ways. One can also use gesso on paper. This prepares the paint for paint and will have less buckling. Well, there is a new surface that loves gesso. And I'll be using it in my upcoming class called "My World Rocks!" Can you guess what the substrate is? Rocks!! Not only does it prepare the surface but the white colour, of the gesso, is perfect for the paint colours to show up pure and true (versus on the dark gray rock).
