Gesso
#TuesdayToolsAndTechniques has to do with painting. It's not the paints I'm talking about but gessoed surfaces. Gesso is like a primer and prepares the surface for paint.
Surfaces
One can have a variety of surfaces gessoed. You can gesso the canvas by it self and paint on it like that. You can gesso a board to paint on or you can surround the board with canvas and paint gesso on that. And finally, you can gesso the canvas stretched out on a frame.
Ready Made
What I find to be great is that a lot of this can be done for you, so you can buy it that way. You can get rolls of primed (gessoed) canvas. Or you could get a variety of sized boards gessoed for you. And as for stretched canvas, you can get that ready for yu to paint on.
Where to Buy
But where can you buy these things? For the rolled primed canvas, one would have to purchase this at an art store. As for the boards and stretched canvas, you can buy limited sizes at dollar stores. While a larger selection, and higher quality, would happen at an art store.
