This past weekend was the Walk Her Way fundraiser for Sorrentino's Compassion House in Edmonton, Alberta. I stayed at Compassion House, for 31 days, as I got the radiation part of my cancer treatment. I was so fortunate that I was able to stay there, instead of driving 4 hours everyday to and from my house to the Cross Cancer Institute. That would have taken a toll to my already weakened body. Staying there, I became friends with others going through the same thing, worked out, participated in yoga classes, took fun classes, went to an Oilers hockey game (thanks to the donated hockey tickets) and even got a bracelet and earrings from Hillberg & Berk. It was a slice of heaven as I went through treatment.
I wish to help another woman as she goes through this part of her cancer journey. So, I joined the walk and its fundraising www.justgiving.com/barbara-burns4 . I also started a fundraiser on FaceBook. All money will go towards the great cause of Compassion House. In addition to getting a tax receipt for donations $25 and over, all donations, no matter what the donation, will be entered into a draw for 1 of 3 artworks from me.
