Today's #FridayFinds is the top selling book by Prince Harry, called Spare. Here we get a glimpse inside the dysfunctional royal family. What separates his family from ours is the desire to look good in the daily British newspapers. It seems there have been times where a person's misdoings would be leaked out for the sake of another member's desire to look good; it had the feeling like sacrificing one to the slaughter. And in this one particular situation, King Charles and Camilla (at the time he was Prince) sacrificed Prince Harry, his own son. It seems like they weren't just a family but things operated as a business and each person had a part to play.
Another thing I learned was that Prince Harry had a number of pet projects that were important to him. In fact, both he and his wife, Megan had numerous enterprises that were aimed to make this a better world.
The one thing that ran throughout the book was the media. Despite Prince Harry's distaste of them (press, newspapers etc), he has been married to them for quite a long time. In times of grief (his mother's funeral procession) to moments of misjudgment (wearing a Nazi outfit for Halloween) and times of great happiness (his wedding to Megan and the birth of his son), the press has been there.
Prince Harry has had strained relationships with the media, his immediate family and their support staff, but it seems his relationship with Megan has made him a stronger and better man. Time will tell if his family's decision to have Prince Harry removed from the royal family and its dealings, is a good decision.
