Embrace Fall with Asemic Art: A New YouTube Video to Inspire Creativity and Mindfulness
As the leaves turn golden and the crisp fall air settles in, it’s the perfect time to tap into the natural beauty of the season and let it inspire your creativity. My latest YouTube video, Fall Asemic Abstracts, draws inspiration from the earthy tones of Northern Canada’s fall—think rich browns, warm golds, and deep greens. Together, we’ll create three abstract pieces that reflect the essence of autumn, while also exploring a fascinating form of art: asemic writing.
What is Asemic Writing?
Asemic writing is a form of art where the visuals resemble writing, but they carry no literal meaning—like a kind of “make-believe” script. It’s playful, freeing, and offers endless possibilities for interpretation. In Fall Asemic Abstracts, I introduce you to this artistic style and show how you can use it to enhance your own creations. The result? Abstract works with a personal, imaginative flair that invites viewers to see whatever their mind conjures up.
Supplies You’ll Love
In this video, I feature some of my go-to gel pens—PaperMate InkJoys and Uni-Ball Signo. These pens are smooth and vibrant, perfect for adding intricate details to your artwork. And don’t worry if you don’t have watercolours or gel pens on hand! You can easily substitute them with tempera or acrylic paint and a regular pen to achieve the same creative effect.
I love finding supplies that are not only affordable but also accessible. Gel pens can be found everywhere, from grocery stores to online shops, but remember—not all pens are created equal! In the video, I share the two that I like the best that get a smooth, sustained writing that works best for this type of project.
Guided Meditation: Finding Your Imagined Oasis
Creating art isn’t just about producing something visually pleasing—it’s also a powerful way to relax and focus on your well-being. In this video, I guide you through a calming meditation I call the Imagined Oasis. This is a visualization exercise where you’ll visit your own personal paradise—real or imagined—that brings you peace. Whether you’re taking a mental break from a busy day or preparing to dive into your art, this meditation will help you clear your mind and connect with your creativity.
A Creative Outlet for Everyone
The Fall Asemic Abstracts video is perfect for artists at any level, whether you're a beginner or more experienced. My videos are also timestamped, so if you’re short on time or want to focus on a particular section, you can easily jump to the Featured Supply, Guided Meditation, Art Project, or Oracle Card Reading.
Ending on a Thoughtful Note
At the end of our creative session, I always like to send you off with a little food for thought. In this video, I pull an oracle card from Spiritual Awakening by Dr. Rev. Erin Fall Haskell, offering insights to reflect on as you move forward. To wrap things up, I share a few encouraging words from the inspiring book You Are the Magnet by Amber Lyon. These words will resonate not just with artists, but anyone seeking a little extra motivation or comfort in their creative journey.
