🎨 Draw & Paint a Simplified Face – Part 2

A Mindful Art Project to Explore Expression, Style & Intuition

If you're looking for a gentle, creative escape that blends learning with calm, you're in the right place.

This week on my YouTube channel, Art & Soul Insider with Barbara Lynn Burns, we’re continuing our journey with Part 2 of Draw & Paint a Simplified Face. This series is designed especially for beginner artists, busy women, and anyone craving a little creative calm and self-expression.

🖌 What We’re Creating in Part 2

In this video, we’re building on the vibrant, intuitive background from Part 1. We begin to draw and paint the faceusing:

  • White gesso to prepare the surface

  • Jane Davenport’s craft acrylics (vintage colors from her original line!)

  • A step-by-step guide to sketching facial features

  • A discussion about creating YOUR own style, even if you’re inspired by others

While my style is loosely influenced by Jane Davenport’s whimsical women, I walk you through how to let your own artistic voice emerge. We talk about embracing intuitive decisions, going off-script, and letting your art become uniquely you.

💖 What You'll Learn

This isn’t just an art demo—it’s a mini-class where I teach from over 25 years of experience as an Art Teacher and Well-being Practitioner. You’ll learn:

✔️ How to use gesso as a base for skin tones
✔️ Why prepping your painting surface matters
✔️ How to draw eyes, noses, and lips with loose proportions
✔️ Why intuitive painting helps you develop your own style
✔️ That realism is optional—playful exaggeration is welcome!
✔️ How mindfulness and art go hand-in-hand

This process is not about perfection—it’s about presence.
