ART

This is the final sharing of the element of colour. I have covered a great deal concerning colour as I most often get questions concerning colour. The final revealing is concerning three words: Complementary (which we have covered), Analogous and Triadic. Most often these colour theory words are used in marketing as they are dynamic and strong visually.

Here is the colour wheel. It will come in handy as I explain these colour theory words.

Complementary colours are 2 colours directly opposite of the other on the colour wheel. Looking at the colour wheel, yellow is a complementary colour to violet. Below in this visual, the complementary colours are red and green. These colours are used in graphics to show a sense of contrast.

Analogous colours are colours that are on the same side of the colour wheel. These colours are used in graphics to show a sense of harmony. Have a look at the colour wheel, the colours Red, Red-Violet, Violet and Blue-Violet are analogous colours. And below, the marketing graphic shows both warm and cool colours in the analogous colours.

The Triadic colours are 3 colours that are equally spaced on the colour wheel. For example, on the colour wheel, Triadic colours could be orange, green and violet with three colours in-between each colour. So, for this marketing advertisement the Triadic colour theory was used. What 3 equally spaced colours were used? (answer at end of newsletter)

So to summarize the Complementary, Analogous and Triadic theories, here is a visual that will help you.

SOUL

Based on the feedback of last month’s sharing of the Oracle cards, I decided to share with you a little ritual I do. I like using aids to help me focus my mind at the beginning of the day, or when I need a boost. So I bought these 2”x4” cards, by Anna Stark, called From the Heart Affirmations. The sayings are like “I am clear and open to receive miracles.” And “I am a conscious creator of the energy around me.” And “I anchor the boundless light in my heart. I am divine.” And “My heart and mind are unified in spirit.”

I may decide to pick up one to three cards. I find if you pick more that three, the message can be lost amongst the others, especially if it is a pick for a daily inspiration/message. I usually read the cards numerous times and think how they can apply to me. I also pick cards before I create a piece of art. The thoughts are always positive, so I am always open for insight.

Cards like these can be found at book stores and specialized book stores (“New Age”). I have found every major city has these specialized stores where you will have an abundance of card sets. I pick a deck of cards by using my ‘gut feeling,’ if I like the images and if I like what they say. I always come home with a deck that ‘feels right.’

With that shared, I hope you will find your own special deck that encourages you on your way and day!
