SOUL
The beginning of the year has passed. Do you have your ‘word’ yet? Better yet, do you know what I am talking about?
For the new year’s in the past, instead of resolutions, I choose a ‘word’ that would guide my thoughts and actions throughout the year. However this year, I change the rules and chose two words! My words are ‘passion’ and ‘fun.’ I think these words work perfectly with the fact that I am starting up my business of teaching online.
So, I have my ‘word(s),’ let’s move ahead to get you a ‘word.’ So, how do you choose a word?
- Tell the Universe (God, Energy etc.) that you are looking for a word. Basically, you put it out there. And it never fails, but you’ll begin to have these coincidences where the word appears time and time again. For me, my word ‘passion’ appeared in articles I read, hearing it on a podcast and seeing it in a magazine.
- Next, is a time for self-reflection. Have a look at yourself, and your past year, and ask this question, “What do I need to improve on?” Create your list and examine the words. This step was how I found the word ‘play.’ I liked this word but it was off in ways. Then I thought of the word ‘fun,’ and I lit up. This was my word.
- The third step is to ask yourself the question, “What happened last year that I didn’t like?” After you have your looking back list, pick one that really engages you. Let’s say last year you worked really hard, almost to the point of burnout. Words to counter that could be relax, stillness, meditate, self-care etc. Then choose the one you like best.
- Finally, make it personal. Choose a word that has meaning for you. Make it yours.
I hope these steps will help you find your word. And I hope that that word will help guide you for the remainder of the year. Have a great 2021!
