My name is Barbara. I live in Northern Alberta, Canada. In my town there are two traffic lights; while in my yard, it is not uncommon that you find, deer, moose, lynx, bear and other furry beasts called cats and dogs.

More About Me

The one principle that guides my life is Love. My aim is to have every action and word be governed by Love. But hey, some days are better than others. As for myself, I’m working on learning how to be kinder and gentler with myself.

For decades I have lived with chronic pain due to a growth on my spine (L5). This altered my life completely. On top of that, in 2015, I found a large mass in my breast, and it was cancer.  In addition to this, both my parents died within years of each other. I loved them dearly and it was devastating. Then depression came my way again, and it hit hard. The reason I share this is because the one constant through it all, was Art. They say “Art heals,” and I know for a fact that it helped me through all my years of trying times. That is why a portion of every class, or artwork, sold will go towards a specific charity of that month.

Besides Art, the other constant was teaching. For over 25 years, I have lovingly been teaching Art to Junior and Senior High School students. The words over my Art room’s door were ‘Love. Peace. Laughter.’ I loved teaching my students a variety of techniques and materials to create works that they could be proud of. My student’s thrived so much that parents would often tell me, “I wish you taught Adult Art classes."

Well…I do now! This website, and new lessons, are a by-product of my years of teaching Art and sharing the ‘tips and tricks of the trade.’ In fact, when I shared that I was teaching online, via FaceBook and Instagram, many former students were excited to take lessons from me again.

I am thrilled to offer these new lessons for you. I have taken the step by step lessons and added a ‘mind, body and soul’ aspect; each work will be infused with the soulful inner being of self. Don’t worry, it will be fun and easy.

You don’t have to be an artist to learn and succeed in my class. So I take steps to ensure that the directions and demonstrations are clear and that the step by step instructions are manageable. I want my students to triumph and be proud of their work.
